I am a bit confused however as to what the difference is between Dynamic Range and Velocity Min and Max? I am no expert in digital music as you will have already guessed, but I would have thought they should do something very similar? I tried to lower the Velocity Max and that does have quite a huge impact. So I tried to mix the 2 changes and this seem so far the best option, but want to work more on it.Īlso, on the Session page of Ivory I see there are controls for Velocity. I find it has a lower impact on volume: in other words, without touching the Dynamic Range, Gain has to go to a level where I find it affects the sound too dramatically. I also tried to independently crank up the Gain. Now it seems to produce meaningful (although not entirely satisfactory) results going from say 41db to 35db. Originally, Synthogy suggested to lower the Dynamic Range, but to get to a decent volume I had to put that down way too much (which generated my frustration, as I could not really play piano anymore, only forte and beyond.). Even more weirdly however, the sound while 'fuller' via the DAC is actually even quieter than via the digital out! I then reached out to Synthogy - they were not familiar with the issue and suggested to alter the dynamic range. I maxed out midi volume and system volume on the Mac, but still what I can hear is less than half the volume of the internal sound of the MP9500 itself (when hooking the headphones directly to the piano). I set up the Midi connection between MacBook and MP9500 and have no problems running and playing Ivory EXCEPT that the volume I can hear in the headphones is way too low.
